AI Infrastructure

The NRH@FAU is a national academic HPC center and has broad expertise in the fields of numerical simulations, performance engineering, and AI/ML. The new GPU-cluster will be a significant step forward for the Bavarian research landscape and will be one of the most advanced systems for generative AI in Germany. It can process and analyze large volumes of data and will be used for training generative AI models and developing algorithms in the field of speech, audio, and communication signal processing.

For further information you can contact Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wellein or Dr. Jan Eitzinger at NRH@FAU.

Fire-AI

The Fire-AI project forms the foundation for the computing resources required for the DSGenAI project. The state‑of‑the‑art high‑performance computing cluster provided for this purpose is specifically tailored to the requirements of DSGenAI and establishes the technical basis for the development of large foundation models based on transformer and diffusion model architectures.

This infrastructure helps ensure technological sovereignty for Bavaria, enabling the use of generative artificial intelligence to enhance efficiency and security in industry and society.

The GPU‑based high‑performance computing cluster is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
